Tatjana Plitt is journeying across the country and photographing military families to demonstrate that the so-called Defense of Marriage Act hurts real couples and real families. This couple, for example, Ashley and Liliana, recently welcomed a baby boy into the world, Brice. However, even though Ashley is on her son’s birth certificate, DOMA prohibits her from receiving the “paternity” leave that any other military spouse would receive in the event of the birth of a child.
